We learned a tonne during our interview with Tarang Jain, an associate software engineer at Gartner. She was just a high school student like us when her interest in programming first began. At just 21 years old, she began her first job. The fact that she was the youngest person in her entire office didn’t frighten her. She is very enthusiastic and driven about her work and looks forward to going to work every day. She exhorted us to put in the arduous work now so that we could enjoy life once we were adults. She gave us some truly incredible advice so that we wouldn’t pile up all of our work the day before the deadline. Making realistic to-do lists, not judging your work output by the number of hours you put in, taking breaks in between long stretches of work, etc. were some of her advice. Her main source of inspiration and motivation throughout her life was Indra Nooyi. Ms. Jain shared some insight on one of her favourite topics, microprocessors. She was more interested because it is a very difficult subject. In her most recent project, she invented a completely new programming language, and she revealed fascinating details about it!
